Choreography at the Flicks – Nottingham Evening Post
Clip – Savoy Cinema, Nottingham
The Savoy’s Screen One swaps Tinseltown blockbuster for creativity when Nottingham based dancer and choreographer Kerryn Wise presents Clip, a dance and video performance which explores ‘the connotations and rituals linked to the cinema space’. Combining contemporary choreography, visuals and a cutting edge soundtrack, Clip uses the projection of a cinema auditorium into which performers are introduced and juxtaposes this with live performers on stage.
Real and projected dancers jostle for attention until the performance reaches its cinematic climax and the curtain closes.
The dancers are Wise, Tina Carter and Carly Annable, while the soundtrack comes from Wauvenfold and bury&disinter.
The whole was originally conceived for the cities annual dance4 event and was then developed in India.
Wise says that the work responds to the ‘unique atmosphere of the Savoy’.
Presented as part of Nottingham Trent University’s Sensitive skin arts exhibition. |
